How much does it cost?
Basic includes 100 hosted translations every week, no card required. Need more? Choose the $0.99 Day Pass (100 translations in 24h), Starter at $4.99/month or $49/year (1,500 translations refreshed monthly), or Power at $9.99/month (3,000 translations).
Bring your own OpenAI key, run Ollama locally, or self-host the server and pay nothing per translation.
Which sites are supported?
Standard image-based readers, raw scans, long-strip pages, and local image files are supported. Some protected or custom canvas readers are not. When a reader is unsupported, the extension shows a clear message instead of silently doing nothing. MangaPlus uses a scrambled-canvas reader that browser extensions cannot read.
How accurate are the translations?
The hosted backend uses AI vision models with context for honorifics, character voice, and SFX. It is not perfect, and every line can be edited after translation.
Does it work offline?
Bubble detection runs entirely in your browser. Translation talks to a cloud endpoint, so it needs internet. If you want fully offline, switch the backend to Ollama and run a local model.
What about my reading history?
Page URLs stay in your browser. In hosted mode, Manga Translator Z uploads the manga page image or detected regions you request, language settings, optional glossary instructions, and up to 20 recent source and translation pairs through our server to OpenAI for text recognition, parsing, and translation. OpenAI may also use shared inputs and outputs for model evaluation, improvement, and training. Use only content you have the right to process. Read the full privacy policy.
Can I customize the look?
Yes. Pick from Komika Hand (default), Comic Neue, Comic Sans, Bangers, or system fonts. Adjust bubble opacity, font scale, padding, and shape. Color picker for the text.
